"Shepherd's Own"
from Universal Yarn / Fibranatura

Not that long ago the only way to get wool from the shepherd was to buy it as a fleece and then process the raw wool. But with Universal Yarn/Fibranatura's "Shepherd's Own" you get wonderful 100% All Natural Undyed Wool from the selected shearing directly from the shepherd without all the work.

There is a very limited quantity produced each year of the Shepherd's Own yarn (these come in Flock Numbers not dye lots).

Come in and check out the Shepherd's Own. You won't be disappointed.

Celebrate Spinning & Weaving Week with TYF's Fiber to Scarf Demo and Raffle

October 4th-10th is the Handweavers Guild of America's Spinning and Weaving Week. In honor of this special week, TYF will be hosting a "Fiber to Scarf" demonstration on Saturday, October 11th.

Traditionally, many fairs and fiber festivals offer "Sheep to Shawl" events, where raw fiber freshly shorn from the sheep is cleaned, carded, spun, and made into a shawl, all in one day. To make things simpler and more colorful, TYF will be hosting a "Fiber to Scarf" demonstration where already combed and dyed fiber will be spun and woven here at the shop to create a beautiful and "ewe+nique" scarf.

Beginning at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 11th, volunteers will be here at TYF spinning, and as they produce their finished yarn, a local weaver will then use it to create our "Many Hands Scarf".

If you would like to see the scarf in progress, plan to visit TYF on October 11th, because it will be going to a new home shortly thereafter. Want that new home to be yours? Well, then, read on!

From 10:00 am on Oct. 4th to 8:00 pm on Oct. 11th, for every $10 you spend, your name will be entered in a drawing for the "Many Hands Scarf", and the winner will be drawn at 8:00 pm on October 11th (need not be present to win).

If you are a spinner and would like to participate in this event, please contact TYF. If you are not a spinner (yet), feel free to visit on the 11th to see this fantastic spinning and weaving demo, and to encourage our volunteers.

Tempe Yarn & Fiber Fall Celebration

Fall will officially (finally!) be here on September 22nd.

In honor of the first week of Fall, and the end of Summer (finally!) TYF will be holding a Fall Celebration on Saturday, September 27th from 6:00-8:00 pm, and it will combine two of our favorite things--a Pot Luck and a Show and Tell.

To say "Goodbye!" to Summer, we'd like you to bring your favorite warm-weather knitted, crocheted, or woven piece for a Summer Show and Tell. Don't wear it that night, though, because we'll have the AC cranked down to create some cool Fall-like weather here at TYF.

To say "Hello!" to Fall, we'll do our part by turning down the AC to get cool and having some hot cider here to share. You can do your part by digging out your favorite cozy sweater, shawl, scarf, hat, etc. and bringing it keep you warm, along with your favorite Fall comfort food to share.

We look forward to seeing you all, and to celebrating Fall (finally!).
