What is World Wide Knit in Public Day?
This event was started in 2005 and began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. WWKiP Day is all about showing the general public that knitting can be a community activity.
Tempe Yarn & Fiber is sponsoring a virtual knit in public event today!
We all know that Arizonans are a cantankerous and independent group of folks. In that spirit, and with the price of gas, instead of trying to get everyone together in one spot, we invite you to take your knitting with you when you are out and about today. Then, at 1:00 pm, stop somewhere in public and start knitting (if you are driving wait till you stop). Have someone take a digital picture of you knitting in public, and then send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All photos received will be posted on tempeyarn.com/.
Here's the fun part--the person who submits the most un+ewe+sual knit in public photo (as judged by Fred) by June 17th will win a TYF gift card.
