What’s a Spinalong or SAL?
Knitalongs or KALs are very popular. So why not a Spin-Along? We will call it a SAL.
Each person participating will purchase a “TYF Mystery Fiber Kit” and sign up to be invited to the Yahoo Group that will support the Mystery SAL.
The Theme For This SAL:
Everyone is on a diet….a food diet, fast food diet, grapefruit diet, protein diet, liquid diet, and even a yarn diet. Why not a Fiber DIET where you get to HAVE something, not deny yourself something? Turning around the word DIET and making it a positive, we at TYF decided to create a good excuse to enrich your life with FIBER, which is totally good for you. (But we don’t want you to eat it….we want you to spin it.)
Our Fiber DIET or Mystery Spinalong will have a culinary theme. Yep, if you can’t eat it, you might as well spin it.
Three times a week, through the Yahoo Group created especially for this SAL, we will pass along directions on how to spin a portion (approximately an ounce) of the fibers you will receive when you sign up for the SAL. All participants will begin with the same amounts and colors of fibers. You will be given directions or clues through the Yahoo group, then you will go off and with the inspiration and guidance from the clue, you will create your yarn.
During the SAL, we will have a weekly opportunity to gather and spin as a group, or you can spin on your own. Either way, at the end of the SAL we will gather one evening at TYF and celebrate Show & Tell. Each participant will end up with their own ewe+nique yarn, as no two people spin exactly the same. During the gathering (Show & Tell) we can discuss and share ideas for use of the yarns you have created.
