This weekend's Sock Summit in Portland, Oregon will truly be a memorial event for those going. However, as many of us found out, the tickets for this event sold out within minutes.
So What To Do?
TYF has decided to hold our own "Sock Event" for anyone who really really really wanted to go to the Sock Summit, but couldn't. The "Sock Event" will be Saturday, August 8th, from 1:00pm till close.
We won't have:
-world famous sock knitters;
-the world's largest sock (which we are scheduled to have at the shop at a later date);
-exotic classes;
-150 vendors;
-a lavish reception;
-a catered lunch;
-or belly dancers (Fred wanted this one but was outvoted)
We will have:
-one of the largest selections of sock yarns in the valley including:
-Knitivity Sock yarn specially dyed Arizona colors;
-newly arrived Pagewood Farms Sock yarn;
-newly arrived Universal Phoenix Sock yarn (with yarns named after streets/places in the area);
-newly arrived Universal Miami and North Pole Sock yarns;
-a Sock Sample class from 2-5pm ($35) to learn to make socks (call ahead to sign up);
-folks who know socks;
-customers who like to have fun
So don't set home sulking about not being at the Sock Summit. Brave the heat and stop by TYF to be part of our "1st Annual Sock Event" sponsored by people who wear socks.
For those who don't want to do socks...we'll have our standard offering of knitting, crocheting, spinning, jokes, tall tales, and other things to do.
