Market on Mill Begins in Downtown Tempe!
Evening Community Market Launches Outside of MADCAP Theaters
The new community Market on Mill launches this Thursday! The Market is a joint venture by the Downtown Tempe Community and the Phoenix Permaculture Guild and will be Arizona's first carbon neutral, "green" community market! Held every week from 5 - 9pm the Market will be an eclectic mix of area businesses, growers, artisans, restaurants and local musicians.
The Market will purchase carbon offsets for each week's market and all vendors and participants are required to use CFL/LED lighting. Recycling facilities will also be offered on-site. Each week, Sustainable Living Classes will be offered inside the MADCAP Theaters for just $10. This week's speakers will be Greg Peterson of Your Guide to Green on "Living Green" and Doreen Pollack of The Green Goddess on "Herb Gardening for Desert Dwellers." Both classes are included for $10 this week!
Once a month, the "Taste of Tempe" will feature a special demonstration and tasting from a different local restaurant with an emphasis on locally sourced and organically grown ingredients.
Part of Mill Avenue District's "Thursdays on Mill" (including MADCAP Theaters and Music on Mill) the Market on Mill makes its official debut at their grand opening event on Thursday, October 15, 2009.
