World Book Premiere of "Warm Earth" by Yumiko Alexander

THERE WILL ALSO BE A POT LUCK IN YUMIKO'S HONOR ON SATURDAY, PLUS CAKE!

The world book premiere of “Warm Earth” by Yumiko Alexander will be held at Tempe Yarn & Fiber on September 11, 2010 from noon till 4:00 pm. Yumiko has been publishing individual knitting and crochet patterns for years, but Warm Earth (published by Universal Yarns) is her first book of patterns. The book’s 18 earth-inspired designs reflect Yumiko’s ability to combine elements of knitting and crochet to create texture and depth in her designs. She will have a large selection of the garments from the book on display at the premiere, and she will be available to sign copies of her new book.

While celebrating her Japanese heritage, Yumiko has embraced her new Arizona home. A mother of twin boys, she has become a master of time management which allows her to balance being a mother/wife and doing her design work. But what a balance - her designs capture the beauty of the desert sun, warm earth colors and great expanse of visible sky. She is also inspired by what she likes to wear and what she wants to have in her closet. She especially likes combining knit and crochet to obtain interesting textures and fun combinations of fiber and color. You’ll love the easy wearability and comfortable fit of Yumiko's projects.

Come help us celebrate Yumiko’s first book and support this local writer/artist/wonderful person.
