Knitted Knockers Needed

The Chandler Regional Cancer Center is in need of more Knitted Knockers.  TYF would like to ask our customers to step up to the plate again and help us resupply the Cancer Center.  We did this early in 2011 and you donated several hundred.

What are Knitted Knockers?  Knitted prosthetic breasts for mastectomy patients. Sounds silly, doesn't it? Yet, when placed in a bra, these knitted breasts take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are lighter and more comfortable than silicone prosthetic breasts. The knitted fabric breathes and prevents the heat rash experienced by many women wearing the silicone ones.

This is an excellent program that improves the lives of many women who have breast cancer and had a mastectomy. You cannot believe how much this program has helped women of all ages.

Thank you for keeping this program going - it is spreading to other city and states as well.

Thanks to all of those who are "knitting knitted knockers"!

I, too, think this is a great program. I do wish, that there would be a list of locations, showing where the different groups meet across the country. Do you know of such a register online? I have searched in vain, but we do have a group of approx. 8 knitters started in Moline, IL.
