Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

Hurricane Sandy has left 30,000-40,000 in New York City with fuel shortages, power outages and many without housing.  Now with the recent cold front, temperatures are reaching near-freezing.  A lot of people are now in need of a helping hand.

Barbara Standley, a TYF transplant to NYC, is one of the lucky ones who has all of the essential services.  But she has seen first hand the devastation Sandy has left in its wake.  She is asking her knitting and  crochet friends at TYF for help.  Barbara said, "these folks can use anything hand-made that is warm (hats, scarves, gloves, etc)."  She will help distribute anything we send to those in need.

If you would like to participate in our "Hugs for New Yorkers," simply make something warm and get it to the shop by December 10th and we'll send out a care package.

Yumiko Alexander will be modifying her Hugs for Japan scarf shortly and it will be available here as a free download.
