We Have A Winner for Uncle Joe

When Uncle Joe was donated by Teri Eichhorn, a California artist, he was so unique that it was decided that he would be used as a price in a drawing to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. Thanks to the generosity of our customers, $150 was raised from the donations for Uncle Joe.

Tempe Yarn will match this $150 and present to the Ronald McDonald House a total of $300.00 to offset the cost of families who are in town and stay at the Ronald McDonald House while their children are being treated for various medical conditions.

Now to the fun part, Uncle Joe's winner.

Fate clearly had a hand in selecting the winner of Uncle Joe. The tickets went into a hat and one ticket was drawn out.

The name on the ticket was Tim Logan, the creator of the family tree. If this isn't fate, I'm not sure what it is.

Thanks to everyone who donated hedgehogs and donated money for Uncle Joe to Ronald McDonald.

Family Reunion of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles Was A Huge Success

Over the past few months, Tempe Yarn customers have made "one-of-a-kind" hedgehogs, based on characters created in a delightful family tree by Tim Logan, using the "Huggable Hedgehog" pattern from Fiber Trends.

On Saturday the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles' Family Reunion was held at TYF. After the reunion, 33+ hedgehogs were presented to the Ronald McDonald House for gifts to visiting children.

We want to recognize the wonderfully creative mind of Tim Logan, whose desire to help those less fortunate challenged us to make a difference by making these amazing hedgehogs.

(Tim Logan and Leslie Tan, Ronald McDonald House)

Equally important to the success of this project are the wonderful Tempe Yarn customers.
Without their time, hard work and creativity there would have been no hedgehogs. Thanks go to: Heather, Cora Lee, Kelly, Nicole, Sam, Robin, Jen, Mandy, Teri, Andrea, Nancy P., Candy, Tara, Leanne, Debra, Jodie, Bev, Kim, Nancy L., Angela, Pit, Kathy, Rachel, Candace, Allari, Jill, Jamie and Francine (if I've missed your name please let me know).

Finally, Uncle Joe (shown below) was donated by Teri , an artist out of California, and will be used as the prize in a drawing for the Ronald McDonald House.

Tickets for the "Uncle Joe Drawing" will be available from October 31st through November 7th for a $5 donation.

Here's the Story Behind the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles:

"The Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles have long been the subject of muttered whisperings and speculations as to actually why the family was, as they say, "The 'way' they are!" To the current generation of Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles this attention is either rigorously avoided or exuberantly sought out. It simply depends on the tilt of their Tiggy-Winkle spines.

For my part I am quite pleased to be an Edefedd Tiggy-Winkle thank you very much. No, wait, I dare say, I am Proud to be an Edefedd Tiggy-Winkle! I have long wanted to write a true, accurate, and historical account of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles, but must confess, what with all that hibernating and shopping by night stuff, it's been slow to get the word out among the hedge rows. I have been able to gather some details as far back as Great-grandfather Woolstuck Edefedd Tiggy-Winkle and will share what I can for those who want to know. And for those of you who don't want to know - oh, hedgefarkle, just go sleep away the winter in your plain, blaugh little spineys! "

We Have The Most Caring Customers In the World @ Tempe Yarn

A few days ago we announced that we were going to do another charity project for the kids at the Ronald McDonald House in Phoenix.

For this project customers would be selecting specific members of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles Family Tree (a family of hedgehogs) and making them for donation to the Ronald McDonald House.

Well over 70% of the characters (sorry family members) have been selected and the Huggable Hedgehogs (based on the Fiber Trends pattern) are being made.

The author of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles Family Tree story, Tim Logan, is now looking at having to research different branches of the family tree so others who want to be part of this fun activity can participate.

If you are interested in making a family member from the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles Family Tree, stop by and sign up (there is no fee to participate) and help us help the kids at the Ronald McDonald House.

Family Tree of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles - The Real Story

On May 22, 2009, we first introduced you to the "Family Tree of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles" with the following:

Now we want to invite you to join us on a special summer charity knitting project. The goal is to knit 25 hedgehog family members for the children who visit Phoenix Ronald McDonald House while they or their siblings are receiving health care in the Valley.

We envision the project to work as follows: You read the family members’ names and personal descriptions as written by Great-grandson Nimmy Edefedd Tiggy-Winkle (a.k.a. author Tim Logan). Then you choose a character you want to create using the Fiber Trends Huggable Hedgehogs Pattern, and let your imagination guide you in making a hedgehog to best resemble your interpretation of the description of the family member you chose. You can use colored wool and textured novelty yarns to express your vision of the character, and some of you may wish to make accessories such as hats and scarves to add to your family character’s personality.

The only Rules: Have fun! Be creative! Study your character and make a totally unique hedgehog. Get crazy! The crazier the character the more fun it will be for a child at the Phoenix Ronald McDonald House.

I want to personally acknowledge and thank Tim Logan for his remarkable creativity in coming up with both the concept and the story line of the "Family Tree of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles." Through his creativity and your participation we will be able to touch the lives of at least 25 children at the Ronald McDonald House.

Stop by Tempe Yarn and check out the family tree and select your character.

Mystery Hobo Bag - Buttons

There's still lots more clues to enjoy and knitting to be done for the Mystery Hobo Knitalong, however, to finish off this wonderful project you'll need 4 special buttons.

Jody from Greenbean Designs has custom made a selection of buttons in packs of four that are color coordinated with many of the yarns that you Mystery Lovers selected for this project.

The imagination opens our mind to a world of possibilities that adds spice to our lives.
