Amazing Glass Bracelets

These classic glass bracelets are from Greenbean Design. Here is a sample of those that are available.

Patterns Designed by Tempe Yarn & Fiber

The long awaited "Garden Path Scarf" is here.
This pattern was originally designed for a Mystery Scarf Knitalong at TYF. It is divided into 12 Sections, which originally were presented as Clues to the participants in the Knitalong. The inspiration for this project came from the book The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and the pattern will explain how the stitch pattern used in each Section was derived from a specific passage or image from the book. While the Mystery Knitalong is over, there is still more than enough fun to go around.

Another pattern created as a Mystery Blanket Knitalong is the Q&A Lap Blanket.
As we developed it, we thought this project could be used as a teaching or learning tool because it steps you through different stitch patterns. For each section of the blanket, you will be presented with a question. Your answer to that question will determine which stitch pattern you work over that area, so your blanket will be a ewe+nique reflection of you.

The next TYF designed pattern is the Tempe Yarn Market Bag (Crocheted).

This is a great bag for those quick trips to the market or yarn shop. The pattern was originally designed for the Mystery Crochetalong. It is divided into nine Sections, which originally were presented as Clues to the participants in the Crochetalong.

Yarn Shop Romance

Romance can strike in unexpected/unusual places. In this case romance was helped along by one of the owners of Tempe Yarn, but that's a story for another time.

Needless to say the Cupid hit the mark on March 14th when Will proposed to Candy in front of a shop full of customers.

On May 31st, Will and Candy will be married in a private ceremony.

To help celebrate their union, Tempe Yarn will be hosting an Open House Reception on Saturday, June 6th from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. Please plan on stopping by and have some refreshments, see the wedding photos and congratulate the newlyweds.

Candy and Will have asked us to share the following with you:

"We cannot begin to express our thanks and appreciation for the outpouring of love and support we feel from all of you for our relationship and upcoming union.

We would ask that if you find it within your heart to recognize our upcoming wedding with a gift, that it be made in the form of a donation to St. Mary’s Food Bank. Anyone wishing to make a Tribute Donation that honors a loved one can contact Gloria at 602-343-3153. You can also bring non-perishable food items to the open house reception at TYF, where we will be collecting things to be delivered to St. Mary’s Food Bank.

We are combining two households into one space and have all that we need. Actually, we will need to downsize both of our stashes (just kidding). The only thing we ask of you is your continued prayers, well-wishes, energies and support. If for some reason St. Mary’s Food Bank is not an organization you feel compelled to support, then we ask that you support the food bank of your choice. During these increasingly difficult times, nothing would bless our union more than knowing it began with the blessing of those that are in need more than are we."

Tempe Yarn Will Be Open on Memorial Day (May 25th)

With the highest respect possible for those who are honored with the holiday, Tempe Yarn will be open our normal hours on Memorial Day.

Memorial Day, formerly known as Decoration Day, commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

Family Tree of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles

"The Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles have long been the subject of muttered whisperings and speculations as to actually why the family was, as they say, "The 'way' they are!" To the current generation of Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles this attention is either rigorously avoided or exuberantly sought out. It simply depends on the tilt of their Tiggy-Winkle spines.

For my part I am quite pleased to be an Edefedd Tiggy-Winkle thank you very much. No, wait, I dare say, I am Proud to be an Edefedd Tiggy-Winkle! I have long wanted to write a true, accurate, and historical account of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles, but must confess, what with all that hibernating and shopping by night stuff, it's been slow to get the word out among the hedge rows. I have been able to gather some details as far back as Great-grandfather Woolstuck Edefedd Tiggy-Winkle and will share what I can for those who want to know. And for those of you who don't want to know - oh, hedgefarkle, just go sleep away the winter in your plain, blaugh little spineys! "

The imagination opens our mind to a world of possibilities that adds spice to our lives. Working with a yet unknown worldclass storyteller, Tim L., Tempe Yarn will over the next few months explore the family tree of the Edefedd Tiggy-Winkles. Bear with us as this strange tale unfolds knowing that the end result will be an adventure that leads to the sharing of Edefedd Tiggy-Winkle's family members with the children of the Ronald McDonald House.

Expressions In Spinning

A group of spinners who enjoyed the Mystery Spinalong have decided to continue the fun in a "live" group setting.

Each month there will be a special spinning challenge with the "mystery assignment" determined when the group meets based on the group's ideas about the month's theme. The inspiration for June's spinning will be dream vacation spots. This group will meet for the first time on June 26th at 6pm.
Stop by and talk to Terry for more details.

Life is nothing but a series of crosses for us mothers.- Colette

Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.- Oprah Winfrey sayings

Mama was my greatest teacher, a teacher of compassion, love and fearlessness. If love is sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love.- Stevie Wonder

Mama exhorted her children at every opportunity to 'jump at de sun.' We might not land on the sun, but at least we would get off the ground.- Cute saying by Zora Neale Hurston

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. - Inspirational sayings by Washington Irving
